Linn-Benton Community College’s Albany, Corvallis Campuses Host Study Jam Before Finals

Finals are almost upon us! Join the Student Leadership Council and other students this weekend for free pizza and drinks, Marvel and DC movies, and games in the Student Union (Albany Campus) and Chinook Hall (Corvallis Campus) for Study Jam!

Study Jam is a weekend-long event at the end of each term that provides students with a fun opportunity to study in the library, take breaks with friends in the Student Union, and hit up the Learning Center for last-minute tutoring.

It runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m Saturday, March 16, at the Albany campus; and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chinook Hall in Corvallis. On Sunday, March 17, you can hang out with fellow students from noon to 4 p.m. at the Albany Center!

Here is what some SLC and long-time attendees of Study Jam have to say about Study Jam’s environment:

“The environment helps me get a lot of work done that normally wouldn’t be done thanks to distractions at home. It is also helpful to have the extra help available at Study Jam.” -- Event planner John Smith, five-time attendee.

“I feel like having the Learning Center open and the Student Union open with two different kinds of environments is extremely beneficial for me and other students. Gives us a chance to take a brain break if we really need it.” -- Event planner Gracie Morgan.

“I feel like the environment at Study Jam is great for getting school (work) done. Depending on a student’s needs, there are quieter places to study as well as more active areas to promote a space to make new friends and have fun while studying for finals.” – SLC President Rachel Biscoe, four-time attendee.

Here is their favorite part about Study Jam:

“My favorite part of Study Jam is that we have the Learning Center where students can go to see tutors for specific subjects. But if you need a break or something to eat, the Student Union has snacks and drinks, and most importantly areas to relax.” -- Event planner Gracie Morgan.

“I like the fun atmosphere the SLC office provides. It’s a nice area to go to if you need a break from studying. I also enjoy the long hours that the Learning Center provides on Saturday.” -- Event planner John Smith.

“My favorite part of Study Jam is to have a safe, inclusive place to study for my finals. While there are options to take a break from studying and eat snacks or watch a movie, it is also a great place to study.” – SLC President Rachel Biscoe.
